Vladimir Popolzin

Vladimir Popolzin (St.Petersburg) an artist, an accordionist, a composer, a teacher.  
Vladimir was born in Barnaul, Siberia.
He began playing the piano-accordion at the age 7 at music school. Then Vladimir studiet button-accordion at Music College. He graduated in button-accordion (bayan) and conduction at the Conservatory of Novosibirsk.
He started his work at Music College as a teacher.
Between 1986 an 1993 for several years he worked as accordionist and conductor in «Siberia» National orchestra.
He also worked in the National Philarmonic of Barnaul as a soloist.
Since 1994 Vladimir Popolzin has made more than 500 live concerts in Germany as a soloist and in different bands.
He has recorded several Albums («The long way» is one of them).
As a composer he has written many musical compositions and arrangements for solo- accordion as a jazz instrument.

He has recorded several Albums. «YavaBand - Beyond the Ocean» containing compositions and arrangements by Vladimir Popolzin for accordion solo and duo and published in 2010 is one of them.

As a composer he has written many music compositions and arrangements for accordion solo as a jazz instrument. There are also a lot of compositions and arrangements for accordion duo and some opus for symphonic orchestra.

For the first time in October 2000 a duo of button accordion players from Russia won the first prize of the competitions Festival Internazionale Castelfidardo, Italy, in the jazz music section. One of them was Vladimir Popolzin.

And in October 2010 the Accordion Duo YavaBand - these are Vladimir Popolzin and Yana Fedoruk - won the first prize at the Festival Internazionale Castelfidardo, Italy.

In 2008, 2009 and 2010 they both made concert tours in Germany and had performances at Frankfurt, Kronberg, Bad Soden, Bernkastel-Kues, Traben-Trabach, Bad Homburg, Darmstadt.

In February 2009, Yana Fedoruk gave a concert in the Kremlin with the Russian accordionist Valery Kovtun and the American jazz accordionist Art Van Damme.
